Shadow returns in the third season of Sonic X in episode 60. This summary was translated and provided by Drium Yrvak.

The episode starts off with a casual flashback sequence; actually, it's just Chris dreaming about the whole "Super Sonic and Super Shadow vs ARK" incident. The main points they show us is when Chris convinced Shadow Maria's desire was happiness for the world, and then when Shadow "powered up" and lost his rings. Chris wakes up, takes the ring from his shelf and walks outside. Sonic asks what's wrong, Chris answers "Nothing." They head for a spot where an Emerald was found.

Then we're brought to Rouge sneaking aboard Eggman's ship; she finds a pod, exactly like the one down in Prison Island, and the red Chaos Emerald in one of seven holes on top of it. She sets off the alarm reaching for it, and Robotnik arrives. He tells her he doesn't care if she's roaming in his ship so long as she doesn't touch "This". Shadow's inside the pod, missing his rings and sleeping, apparently. Robotnik says even a man of his genius can't wake him up yet. They exit the room, Rouge taunts Bokkun a bit, and that'd be it. (For some reason, Bokkun's terrorized by Rouge. O_o)

Then we see Tails' ship warping through a portal near a new planet; Chris says it's planet "Obidon" (wtf?) and that it holds no signs of life as if its heart had been taken away. They pinpoint the purple Emerald's location and head down to find it. They split up; the only notable thing here is how Knuckles tried to shove Sonic in the mud to see what he'd look like. And Amy screaming at him.

The group enters some old house looking for the Emerald; Amy notably says that "It's too bad this place is so old and dusty, otherwise we could settle here when we get married!" They finally reach the last room where AmY's scanner says the Emerald should be; Knuckles and Sonic barge in but find nothing. The Emerald's moving's on their scanner, so Knuckles starts punching holes in the walls to go faster. They find a secret room and then-- the Emerald's gone! They open a door, come across blurry images of themselves; Sonic blindly dashes off toward them, Amy follows, and Knuckles shrugs and follows.

Back to Chris and Cosmo, nothign much happens as they find something in an underground room. They go "oooooh!" and it cuts.

Back to Sonic, it turns out they were just walking toward a mirror. Amy crashes through it, and they all found down SECRET STAIRS (dun dun dun). Amy comments that they're in a haunted house; just as a gigantic eye glares at them from the ceiling before vanishing. KNUCKLES (of all people) says they should get out of there, and Sonic agrees. They jump into a new room; four doors, each leading to a brick wall.

Back to Chris, we see the two looking over some sort of holographic thing. A mouse, pretty neat in design, explains the planet's situation.

"I will explain to you how our planet perished becaue of the Metarex (???). The survivors had the idea to create a space colony in hope that one day our planet would reanimate. Unfortunetly, the Metarex also attacked the colony, destroying it. If one day someone hears these words, we want you to transmit this message: The Metarex are very dangerous!"

Cosmo comments that all those people must be dead, and Chris nods. They leave the destroyed colony and Cosmo asks why Chris looks so dreamy; he says he's diving back in his memories. He explains to Cosmo the story of Shadow.He then says he wonders what Shadow would think of all of this, and Cosmo asks "So Sonic isn't the only hero?" and Chris smiles. Tails interupts them, saying he lost all contact with Sonic. Cosmo points in the distance; the large mansion that the group entered is gray and blurry, as if it were disappearing.

Back to Sonic and co, the entire house is getting blurry, waving around like it were underwater. Sonic jumps through a wall, and it turns out they aren't solid, so he lands on the X-Tornado pilotted by Chris. He jumps back in, gets Amy and Knuckles, and back out on the ground. The mansion then disolves into a gray goo, which, exactly like Chaos, grows a tentacle and grabs Sonic! Sonic is helplessly dragged into a large gray and purple puddle.

The puddle then taunts Knuckles and Amy (...). "Hohoho! I managed to fool you into coming by using the Emerald as bait!" Knuckles pulls a common "Who're you?!" and the puddle simple anwsers this is the last time Sonic gets in their way. (They? The Metarex?) Chris shoots the Hell out of the puddle, which does nothing. He shoots a ring in it, a bright flash erupts, and surprise, Sonic spindashes out of it. The puddle reforms into a steel wall in front of Sonic, which knocks him out. Knuckles catches him and the two combine their strengths to smash through the wall.

Then we see Eggman watching all of this from his ship. He says to his minions to wait and see how things go. He plans on taking the Emerald when everyone is exhausted down there. Eggman says to Rouge that once he has all of them, he'll gladly give them all to her when he's done with them. Out of nowhere, we see Shadow in his pod again, odd wires going from his head to the machine.

Back down there, Tails FIRES THE MAIN CANNON on the steel wall (of doom, probably, because damn!) and manages to break it. I'm not sure if it's Tails or Cream that shot the thing, though. Both are sitting at.. well, identical seats. The wall reforms into a gigantic vampiric mouth that taunts them again "Did your really think you beat me with such an attack?! You have no notion of reality! Now it's my turn, hahaha!" The mouth turns into a RAIN OF ARROWS (wtf?) and the team barely dodges. Cream turns the main shield on and the team hides under the Typhoon.

Tails explains to Chris that they have to guide Sonic toward the thing through the Ring Tunnel; Chris shoots the rings toward Sonic after sending him the 'upgraded shoes'. The passage takes him right near to the creature, at which point he spindashes-- and gets zapped by lightning a few times. He falls down toward the ground, unconscious. He wakes up when Chris screams, and the Chris gets thrown out fo the sky by the rain of enegry arrows. The green, purple, red and blue Emeralds start glowing and Shadow's ring starts floating, glowing red in front of Chris.

Back to Eggman, Shadow's pod explodes as Eggman and Rouge run down to it. Shadow walks out of the smoke, holding the red Emerald and looking as unhappy as ever. The Emerald starts glowing brighter and he feels the purple Emerald's presence. Meanwhile, Eggman grumbles as he opens the door to the pod's room. He walks in just as Shadow yells "Chaos Control!" and warps off with a golden light.

A bright yellow beam of light strikes Chris' plane, then smashes into the creature (blowing it up) and apparently saves Sonic, who lands on some large rocks. He looks toward the place where the light landed; Chris is on the ground, safe, and Shadow is on top of some ruins, the red and purple Emeralds floating around him in circles. He warps off and appears in front of Eggman holding both Emeralds before he collapses on the ground.

Comments: Okay, so I still don't get why Shadow isn't dead after they showed us his ghost. Oh well. At least he looks awesome without the rings on his shoes and gloves. Still, I'M unhappy they brought him back randomly like that without giving an explanation. Next episode doesn't look much more promising. Oh, yeah, and his French voice horribly sucks.
