Chapter 1: A new life begins

There has been a year ago since the incident on ARK. Sonic, Tails, Rouge, Knuckles and Amy started a new life. Sonic and Tails lived together in a big house they bought after saving the world located in front of the park in Station Square. Knuckles and Rouge lived together in knuckles' house on Angel Island; but Amy, however, lived alone in her apartment on Station Square. "A year ago and I can't forget Shadow", said Sonic almost crying. "Me neither", answered Tails. "I mean why did he died? He was such a great hedgehog and had a whole life to live; he didn't deserved it", said Sonic "I know but that's how life works", said Tails. Suddenly they both gave a sigh and went to bed. It was already midnight, but neither knuckles nor Rouge could sleep. They were both staring at the moon and yet thinking about Shadow and the incident at ARK. " Oh, my God, life goes so fast", said Rouge. "Yeah", knuckles responded. "There has been a year ago and I can still remember every single second of what happened on ARK. Poor Shadow, he didn't deserved to die, but at least we all know that he is now with that Maria he loved so much", said Rouge remembering what happened a year ago. "Well, at least we're here, together and we're ok. Especially, I am with you, Rouge, and you know what…" "What?" Rouge interrupted, "I love you", said Knuckles. "I love you too", Rouge responded kissing him on the cheek. "Ok, let's go to bed and have some sleep", said Knuckles. Then, Knuckles walked inside and Rouge followed after him.

"Why can't I be happy? Everybody is happy except me; Tails is with Sonic and Rouge is with Knuckles. They have at least some company, but I don't. Is it because I'm ugly or what?" said Amy speaking to herself. Suddenly, a strange light came falling from the sky and crashed into Amy's garage. "What the…?", Amy hurried down to her garage to the spot where the thing had fallen. Amy looked down and saw a familiar figure: It was a black hedgehog with red stripes going down his quills. "That's Sha-Shadow?!" Amy said in surprise, but there was a bit of joy in her voice though. Then, she hurried down to the unconscious hedgehog and tried, unsuccessfully, to wake him up. "Shadow, um, are you a-alive?" she said looking at him. He didn't say anything even though he was still alive. She tried to pull him up and bring him to her apartment, but he was too heavy and she didn't want to wake the neighbors up so she tried and tried until he was already up in her apartment. She placed him in a comfortable position on her bed and checked if he was still alive. "Phew, there's a pulse, he's still alive. Well, I'll wait until he wakes up", she said in an optimistic voice. It was 3 o' clock in the morning and Amy couldn't stand awake anymore, so she walked down stairs and slept in the biggest couch in the living room.

She had so many questions to ask and only Shadow could answer them so she just closed her eyes and wait for the sun to rise.
