Summery: Three years after Shadow's sacrifice, Dr. Eggman has been caught, and is in jail, but something is coming towards our hero's home! Yet, can an old friend give them help, or will he be rejected and thought as a ghost?
Rambling: I cried so hard at the end of SA2. Shadow fans, this is for us! :D Oh ok, and maybe Sonic+Amy fans to. ;)

January 3rd....

Where was he? Was this heaven, was it hell, limbo? He opened his eyes, wait no, how could he? Wasn't he dead? Yes..didn't he die saving the world...saving Sonic? Defeating Biolizard? Didn't he die? What if that was all a dream, and he had just now been awoken from over fifty-years of sleep? But..if that is true, would that dream, if that is what it is, be a premonition? Somehow, or someway, his eyes were open.

He saw darkness, with stars...space? He blinked, how long had it been? It didn't mater. He was alive, some how, and he wasn't really sure. He unrolled himself from the ball, black and red quills shimmering in the reflecting sunlight. He gazed around at his form, seeing everything intact..and he still had but one golden ring. He smiled, remembering the friendships he had built, and how much everyone would have missed him. His ruby eyes looked out into space, and then he saw her? Her?! But she died, over fifty years ago! Maria? How could she be here?!

Suddenly he grabbed his head. Who was he? Wasn't he supposed to die protecting the world? He did. What more in life could he do? What was he? Wasn't he Shadow, the Worlds Ultimate Life form..or was he more?

later that day....around noon

Amy Rose giggled as she ran to a shop window. "Sonic-kun!! Look, isn't it pretty? I so want that dress!" the seventeen year old ran into the shop to try it on.

Miles Prowler, or Tails, turned to his friend. "Why does she call u 'kun'? Didn't you ask her to stop calling you that?"

Sonic the hedgehog sighed. "Well, at least she ain't calling me 'koi' anymore." he leaned against the wall, looking down at his wrist. Today was that day. That day, three years ago, when another one of his friends had sacrificed themselves for him. Sonic lost himself in memories until he heard someone speaking about ARK. He turned his head to the television display.

'After much dispute, the government has agreed to destroy the Space Colony ARK. The most pushing fact is that Dr. Gerald and his relative Maria Robitnick had been killed on this Space Colony. The destination will begin in two days, and nine o'clock at night. You are welcome to watch it if you like. In other news...'

Sonic stood up. How could they do that? Especially to him?! Sonic shook his head, knowing that it wouldn't be smart to mess with the President's wishes. He frowned and knew what he would be doing tonight, the same thing he had been doing for the last three years. Sonic turned back to Tails and Ami.

"Sonic-kun!!" Amy said as she came out holding a dress. It was long and tight, with golden sparkles that laid on the golden dress. "Do you like it?"

Sonic smirked. "Yeah, it is really nice. I hope you didn't spend your paycheck on it!"

"Um, I have forty-five cents left!" Amy smiled.

Tails laughed. He took a moment to breath. "Come on guys! We should get home soon, you know?"

Sonic shook his head. "No Tails, I'm coming home later tonight." he turned and walked away.

Amy covered her mouth. "Oh my! Shadow-kun!!" she murmured under her breath. She lowered her head and covered her eyes. Tails put an arm around her and helped her walk home, thinking about Shadow in his own way.

that night....ten thirty

Sonic kicked a stone into the water. He was so angry, and sad. He couldn't pay respects to his long loss friend anymore, it wouldn't be the same...now that ARK was going to be destroyed. His emerald eyes sighed as he sat down in the sand, the water kicking up against his Light Shoes. "Hey Shadow-san, I hope you can hear me...I mean, after all, they are destroying ARK, so I won't be able to come up there anymore, so you'll just have to hear me out here. Everything has basically been the same, except that Rouge has disappeared and Knux is taking it pretty hard. Everyone is worried about her.

"Wanna know something else that is weird? Everyone is worried about me? Why me? I haven't changed, well maybe, besides the fact I have grown up. I still make those jokes you never got. Tails thinks I am changing, how does he think that? Well, whatever. I miss you Shadow-san, you probably know that. You shouldn't have died like that, I should have. You had never lived a life..one that you could have, and now, I feel as I stole that from you. Well, I guess it won't do me much good wining uh? I hope you and Maria are happy together, Shadow-san. Sayonara." he stood up and turned around.

Suddenly Sonic turned around again. His emerald eyes filled with surprise, for a moment he thought that he had seen someone...that was like him, but black with red stripes? Sonic stood paralyzed. The figure..it was transparent. "Oh my god, is Shadow-san...." he asked. He blinked again, but no one was there. Sonic stood bewildered and turned away, shrugging it off. "Must have been a illusion of the moon."

On the sand, a black rose lay in the sand. It was washed out with the tides, never to be seen again.

Rouge the Bat turned her head around. "Come on Knux, you and me both know that it is impossible! Shadow can't be alive, he died for god's sake."

Knuckles shook his head. "You never know. He was created by Dr. Gerald, Rouge-chan. He may have somehow just been able to regain his strength over the last three years."

"But how?" Rouge asked.

"I am sure Dr. Gerald did something." Knuckles said. "He probably installed something inside him."

"..or maybe Maria?" Rouge said. "Knowing Eggman, Dr. Gerald probably thought that Shadow couldn't be destroyed, hai? So, Maria knowing that something may happen, she gave Shadow something?"

Knuckles thought. "That might be true, you know. Or maybe we should ask Tails. I am sure he would know."

"Miles?" Rouge smirked. "Yeah, he would."
