Chapter 1: The Revival

Shadow's power started to fade as he fell down to earth. He didn't think he would survive the fall to earth. His eyes closed as the heat rose on his back. It burned. He gasped for air. A golden glint that was Super Sonic flew back to the ARK. Shadow shut his eyes, waiting for the end. The sharpness of the air stung his body. He wasn't silver anymore. He stared at the ground but it wasn't there. All that was is blue. The mighty ocean. Shadow knew he was going to die, but he felt happy he was. He had fulfilled his wish to Maria. So what if one person died. If it wasn't for him, there would be no Earth to fall to. Fire surrounded poor Shadow. The atmosphere was excruciating A small island appeared in the water. WHAM! Shadow coughed the sand out of his mouth and fainted.

"Huh? Where am I?" said Shadow. His eyes focused the blurry room. A pink figure appeared.

"I'm glad you're awake," it said. After everything was focused, the pink figure became Amy Rose. "Our ship fell to the same island as you did," she finished. Shadow grabbed her hand tightly.

"W-where is S-Sonic?!" he demanded. Amy gasped at his rude attitude.

"Just a minute," she said and got up. Shadow blinked and looked. He, evidently, was in Amy's apartment. His ears perked up as he heard the clicking of Sonic's shoes come in.

"SHADOW! How d-did you survive? Did it hurt?" he asked and he ran over to him.

"Naw…I think it was the best feeling in the world." Sonic narrowed his eyes. Knuckles and Tails popped in. Shadow coughed,

The next day, Shadow was back to his dark self. Sonic greeted him in the morning and left. Shadow sighed and took a sip of coffee. He slammed the cup down, shattering it into a thousand pieces. "HEY! That was my favorite mug!" screamed Amy. "Can I just have beer?" Shadow demanded. Amy shook her head. Tails popped in wearing bunny slippers and a shirt that said 'I like food. Make me some'. Knuckles was in the living room, punching a punching bag. Shadow pulled out an emerald from his shoe and yelled, "CHAOS CONTROL!" A bright green flash filled the room and then a small 'DING' of silver.

"I guess he didn't want any eggs and bacon, grandma," said Tails. Knuckles looked at him and sighed.

A robber stood on top of the bank he just stole from. The police surrounded him and stood their distance. "FOOLS! No one can stop me!" yelled the robber. This is when Shadow appeared. "Sonic?! I thought you died in space!" he yelled. Shadow hesitated. The robber thought he was Sonic.

"That's right! I'm Sonic and I didn't die in space!" Shadow said after a moment.

"Well, it doesn't matter who you are! I have four emeralds," said the robber. He opened the bag, showing four of the legendary Chaos Emeralds, "so don't think you can stop me! CHAOS CONTROL!"

"WHAT? He knows Chaos Control?" Shadow thought to himself. As the robber left, Shadow caught a glimpse of his face. It was a black echidna with stripes just like his own. Shadow sighed and teleported to where he normally wanted to go. The sunset on the beach was something Shadow wanted to see with Maria before she died. Waves lapped onto the shore and splashed onto his feet. The wind ruffled his fur on his chest. He closed his eyes and imagined the look on Maria's face if she was here. Shadow remembered what he had promised her.(begin flashback)

"Shadow? Have you ever wanted to go to the beach?" she asked.

"Maria, if you wanna go, I'll take you there someday. If Gerald let's us go, we'll have to take his rocket."

"Do you pinky swear that you'll take me?" She bent down and put up her pinky finger.

"Of course, Maria." Shadow took his pinky and wrapped it around hers. (end flashback). Amy was walking home from the store when she saw Shadow on the beach.

"What's he doing here?" she thought to herself. She was still angry at what he asked for at breakfast.

"Well," Shadow thought, "you're here, Maria. I kept my promise." A tear streaked down his face as he put his hand to his heart. Amy gasped and dropped her groceries. Did Shadow just…cry? He never cries because he's too tough. She picked up what wasn't on the ground and walked back to her apartment.

"Hey, Amy," Sonic said as he drank some Pepsi. Amy was crying too. "What's wrong?" asked Tails.

"I saw Shadow crying on the beach. It was touching…" she said in tears.
