Game» Sonic Heroes Boss Guide

Here's a set of tips on beating the bosses in Sonic Heroes, which appear after every 2 levels. This is written for Team Dark, but the tips can apply for everyone with some minor variations.

Egg Hawk

This first Eggman boss isn't difficult at all. Eggman will fly backward in a hawk-shaped plane, shooting from the beak. Chase him while collecting rings and dodging shots until you reach the round beach area surrounded by enemies. Ignore the enemies unless you want to work up a Team Blast. Here he will use his Rotary Attack, where he will rotate the ship 360 degrees while shooting. For a fast A Rank, use Omega to attack Eggman in the head/beak of the ship. Finish him off before he leaves that first sandy area, and you should get an A if you do it in a minute or less. The other, slower method is to use Shadow to homing attack the round propellers on the edge of the ship's wings to keep it from flying. This isn't necessary at all unless you are having trouble-- the main target on this ship is Eggman at the beak of the plane.

Team Chaotix

The goal is to knock all 3 Chaotix out of the 'arena.' Use Tornado Spin to suck them in and blow them away quickly for an A rank - it should take about 20 seconds. If that isn't working out for you, the OTHER trick to this is using the right formation. If they use Power, use Flying. If they use Flying, use Speed. If they use Speed, use Power. If one of your characters falls off, it will switch to the next character. You may end up in a one-on-one battle! Be sure to break open crates in the area as they may contain level-ups and rings.

Robot Carnival

This is a fairly simple boss - enemies like you've seen in the levels will come in hordes and you will have to take out several waves of them. The two main tips are to use Omega as much as possible instead of Shadow (Shadow tends to fall off edges easily) and to stay away from where you see the enemies forming.

Egg Albatross

This is a souped-up version of Egg Hawk. This ship also runs in reverse but doesn't stop at all, so it's all Shadow for this one. Start with the wings and break them off with homing attack, then take out the main rotor in the front. The smallest part of the ship will be left to destroy. Shadow can lock on very easily so it's best to use him for the entire boss.

Team Sonic

Same method as Team Chaotix.

Robot Storm

A more difficult version of Robot Carnival. Start with Shadow and take out the first wave of flying ships, then switch to Omega for the bulk of the enemies (save for flying/distanced ones Rouge will have to handle). Your worst enemies in this are the spell-casting robots. The red ones use their robot song (signified by the musical note in their speech bubble) to bring enemies health back to max. The purple ones, as you should know, cast spells to take all your rings. You start with 8 rings in this boss and unless you use Omega in the cannons, the only other rings you will get are 5 in a balloon AFTER your rings are stolen, so be careful with your rings. The final wave is 3 of the large hammer wielding robots, one with head armor. Don't be intimidated if you don't have a Team Blast handy, as they can still be defeated easily with Omega.

Egg Emperor

This is one scary boss BUT I have the method to beat him that will leave you with A and B ranks instead of Ds and Es and it is very simple. Here's how: From the start, use Shadow to run forward, then to the side to avoid Emperors saber-slashes. Get the level-up boxes on the path, you will need them. Emperor's attack pattern is 4 slashes, then missile launch. If you get too close, you'll get hit. If you're too far, he'll charge at you, which is unavoidable. Stay reasonably close to him until you reach the end of the platform, then dash to the next one once he is on it (this is to avoid hitting him/being hit by him in midair). Switch to Omega and have him take out the enemies in the path, then hit the switch at the end of this platform to launch you up, where you will get a Power level-up in a balloon. Levelling up Omega and Rouge is crucial here. Use Omega to run around and destroy all the cannons on the round battlefield, then use Rouge to get the balloons full of rings. Do this to work up a Team Blast, then use it. When Emperor is frozen, use Rouge to position yourself in front of him with a fair distance and use Thundershoot like crazy. You will damage and stun him at once so he can't retaliate if you do it right, and damage him until he retreats to the chase again. Switch to Shadow to chase him, and repeat this process. By the time you reach the 2nd battle arena, he should be done for.

Metal Madness

Once you clear all four team's stories and collect all seven chaos emeralds, one last story will be available, hidden in the story select menu. Metal Sonic will finally appear and transform himself into a metal giant, using the power he assimilated from everyone and parts from Eggman's air fleet. This is a three-part round; each team save for Team Sonic will have to take him on. Each team has to attack one vulnerable spot on his body. Whichever color it turns (red, yelow, blue) is the color you should NOT use to attack it. Starting with Team Rose, you'll have plenty of rings and his attacks are easy to jump over. Use Big to do all the attacking. There is a small colored round spot on the ground at the front of this platform that is the perfect spot to stand and hit from. There is a Team Blast box hidden in the back as well. Next is the Chaotix. They have less rings and the Colors on Metal's weak spot will actually change. Avoid Metal's new attack that will freeze your characters in capsules - you can break them out, but if all three are trapped it's all over. Powerups can be found by using the cannon in the back - use Espio, then Charmy, then Vector to get the two far behind you (be careful not to shoot Vector out there, though!) Lastly is Team Dark with full sets of powerups but only 4 rings. Try using lots of Shadow here as his homing attack packs decent amounts of punch.

Metal Overlord

Only Team Sonic in Super form is used here, but I'll put tips anyway. :) At this point Metal is fully transformed and invincible, so only Team Blasts will work against him. Five Blasts will finish him off. Charge up Team Blasts by destroying his attacks. Use Sonic's forward blast to blast though his crystal attack (note: you can use a special tornado spin too, but this will use up 5 rings at once so I wouldn't advise it), Knuckles' attack for when he throws ships at you, and Tails' Thunder Shoot for when he shoots spines at you (you can become trapped in these spines too, so be careful). Collect rings from the balloons, there are 10 in each, and charge up Blasts and use them ASAP. After a while there are (seemingly?) no more ring balloons, so finish him off as fast as you can.

Thanks to Tails Kaiba for the A-Rank times!
