Sonic Heroes, available on all 3 major platforms (GameCube, PlayStation 2, XBox) is Sonic Team's newest adventure game.

Instead of single players, the game is played in teams of 3: Team Sonic, Team Rose, Team Dark, and Team Chaotix. Each team has their own goal in the game, with Team Rose's game being easiest (may be best to clear their game first) and Team Dark being the hardest (more enemies, tougher styles of clearing levels).

Each team has a Speed, Flying, and Power character.

»Team Sonic
Team Sonic is composed of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. Knuckles and Tails come to Sonic with a letter of challenge by Dr. Eggman:

Dear Sonic Heroes, Guess what, Sonic Heroes?
I've finally developed the ultimate
weapon! In three days I'll conquer
the world! Think you can stop me?

Sincerely,
Eggman

Thus, they set off to save the day again.

»Team Rose
Team Rose is composed of Amy Rose, Big the Cat and Cream the Rabbit. Since Amy finds knows that Sonic's on the move, she goes in pursuit of him, with Big following to find Froggy and Cream going to find her chao Cheese's brother, Chocola.

»Team Dark
Team Dark is composed of Shadow, Rouge, and E-123 Omega. Rouge infiltrates Eggman's base and finds E-123 Omega as well as Shadow. They set off to find Eggman, each with their own personal motive. Shadow has forgotten everything and wants to know who he is, E-123 wants revenge for being locked away, and Rouge, of course, wants treasure.

»Team Chaotix
Team Chaotix is composed of Vector, Charmy and Espio. Espio is a serious, silent-type ninja while Vector is a determined but money-hungry leader. Charmy is childish, loud and enthusiastic. They're off to rescue a client who happens to be...

»Metal Sonic
Metal Sonic is back for more, as he now has the power to copy life data and assimilate it with himself. He copies everyone's data, even that of Chaos (via Chocola Chao) to make himself more powerful than ever before, and bent on destroying Sonic and achieving global domination. While he has Eggman locked away, he poses as Eggman to stir up trouble for each team while copying their necessary data.
